1.2.         Research Problem

Transport firms are voicing out their inability to achieve desired growth and return on investment (ROI) despite huge resources invested therein. Experts assert that    these firms are not economically viable because they fail to adopt integrating logistics philosophy which brings together functional activities, plans, forecasts and strategies, and relates them to the overall mission and corporate objectives of the firm. As such, they lose money, time and resources with the silos method that short circuits relevant information across the organization. Also, the functional units all have their own goals and objectives, while the people working in them also have widely differing views, individual goals etc about how to achieve such goals this leads to conflicts and hindered profit, corporate growth and return on investments.

1.3.         Aim and Objectives of Study

The Aim of this work is to find out how strategic, tactical and operational planning of integrating logistics has affected/impacted the corporate growth of transport firms in Port Harcourt metropolis. In line with the problem statements, the researcher developed the following objectives to guide data collection:

       I.            To determine the extent of relationship between Strategic planning and the external context of firms studied.

II.            To determine the relationship between Tactical planning and the internal context of firms studied.

III.            To determine the relationship between operational planning and the business of firms studied.
